Unique open-air
localization industry event

What to expect at the conference?

The unusual venue inspires creativity without preventing serious discussions, and the songs around the campfire in the evening are a delightful addition to the extensive programme of presentations by well-known industry gurus and newcomers.

UTICamp-2021 is going to be composed of two “shifts” so that everyone can choose their preferred format. You can spend a whole week in Meteorit, choose one of the two “shifts”: the initial three days with the Masters Village or the later three days with the two conference tracks, or even come for one day! See below for more details.

HERE you can have a look at the final conference program.

So here is the rough conference agenda:

19 July: Arrivals and Introductions

The first day of the conference will be set aside for introductions. We will make sure everyone gets to the campsite safely: we will meet you at the station, organise transfers and provide parking spaces for guests travelling by car. Each of you will have enough time to settle in, put up a tent or check in at a nearby hotel. In the evening we will organize a welcome drinks reception by the riverside, where we can meet and chat.

It will be a day of warm reunions with old friends and new acquaintances with songs around the fire.

20—21 July: Masters’ Village

The “first shift” of the conference will be dedicated to masters - professionals, experts, creators and gurus. The presentations, workshops, round tables, communication, creativity, and outdoor recreation are all designed to help you to hone your skills and share your experience with colleagues.

We have decided to dedicate both days to topics essential for the development of the translation industry and each of us as professionals, so we are arranging a space for the exchange of knowledge and ideas and for collaboration. We call this space Masters Village!

We have prepared the following events for you on these days:

  • 20 July — Grand Opening;
  • two simultaneous presentation streams: The Art of Translation and Interpretation;
  • NEW: for the first time, a one-day The Art of Game Localization section will take place within The Art of Translation stream on 21 July: Ukrainian and foreign speakers will present some interesting case studies and unusual problems;
  • 21 July — closing of Part 1 of the conference.

In addition to the main conference agenda, we are preparing a children’s programme for our young guests and entertainment for the adult participants, including morning yoga sessions, creative workshops, classes for your body and mind with birds chirping and singing all around, and plenty of evening events, such as performances by our visitors and guest artists!

22 July: Rest and Reboot

After two busy days of presentations, workshops, and training, it will be time to take a breather and enjoy the most valuable asset of our conference – the picturesque scenery and a unique venue.

You can have a walk to explore the forest, go kayaking, take a nap in a hammock, have a barbecue with friends or go to the city for a sightseeing trip.  We invite UTICamp guests to relax in the campgrounds, swim in the river, socialize and prepare for future activities: there are two more busy days of presentations ahead.

The other participants will gradually join us and we will organize another welcome drinks reception, where we can meet, chat and share our experiences.

23—24 July: Two Tracks

The formal opening of Part 2 of the conference will take place on Friday 23 July. Once the opening ceremony is over, you will be able to listen to presentations by our key speakers, who are all renowned industry experts. The conference will then break up into focus areas. The Programme Committee is selecting applications very carefully to ensure that conference participants benefit from the most valuable and useful information.

We have prepared the following events for Part 2 of the conference:

  • presentations, discussions and interactive panel sessions in The Art of Translation and Business & Translation Technologies streams;
  • NEW: for the first time, a one-day The Art of Audiovisual Translation section will take place within The Art of Translation stream, immersing participants into the exciting world of dubbing, voiceover and subtitling!
  • A packed programme of events and entertainment for children.

25 July: Relax and Farewell

A day for relaxed preparations for the journey home, friendly hugs and farewell photos, as well as closing out the conference and making plans. Take another swim in the river, boost your tan before you leave, chat with friends, pack your bags and don’t forget to take your new experiences and inspiration with you for the next year.
